San Diego Rescue Mission (SDRM), founded in 1955, is a faith-based nonprofit dedicated to serving homeless men, women, and children across San Diego County through a holistic approach to recovery, including housing, case management, workforce development, and food distribution services.
To support its expanding operations, SDRM utilized NMTC financing to partially fund the completion of the National City Navigation Center—a 162-bed facility providing short-term shelter, case management, and pathways to permanent housing—as well as to support the Partners for Hunger Relief food distribution program and general administrative operations. The Navigation Center is expected to serve 2,500 individuals annually, including 40 families, with 70% of those served being minorities and 40% being women and children. The facility’s 30-day transitional program provides individualized case management, connecting residents to long-term shelter, permanent housing, or intervention programs. Additionally, SDRM’s Partners for Hunger Relief program collects and distributes over 2.3 million pounds of food annually, ensuring that essential resources reach those in need through a network of nearly 50 nonprofit organizations.
