Cathedral Performing Arts Center, Cathedral High School - Los Angeles, CA
Cathedral High School (CHS), established in 1925, is an all-boys high school located in one of Los Angeles’ most economically and socially challenged neighborhoods. Enrollment averages 700 students; 70% Latino, 10% African American, 70% qualify for the Federal Free/Reduced Lunch Programs, and 87% receive tuition assistance. CHS consistently graduates 100% of its seniors, of which 80% are accepted to a four-year university. CHS is developing a $20 million, 48,000 square foot Performing Arts Center and Theater (PAC) to support the expansion of its fine arts, performing arts, and media production curriculum. The PAC will prepare students for opportunities in journalism, public relations, advertising, marketing, and multimedia content production. In addition to the educational outcomes supported by the project, the PAC will provide community residents with professional and career development opportunities and serve as a community resource center for other service providing non-profit and impact agencies.
